Mood Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (NOS) is a diagnostic category used when symptoms of a mood disorder (like depression or bipolar) cause significant distress but do not meet the full criteria for a specific, defined disorder. Social scientist prefer to define disorders rather than link them to what serious scientists know about the cause of rapid, alternating mood swings in adolescents to adults.
My mood has been relatively stable since I learned from 2014 PGx testing results that during the adolescent to adult transition, one energy-dependent enzyme-gene interaction was linked to mental health via my group’s claims about energy-dependent changes in molecular distance.

I also learned that VA’s attempts to prevent me and other veterans from using testosterone replacement therapy to stabilize mood can be compared to prescribing Naltrexone for pain and Bupropion for depression, which are linked to suicides.
